The Celtic people were and still are today known for there wonderfully deep and symbolic culture. Of course as stated above the Celtic people lived close to nature and therefore they had a nature based religion and system of beliefs. They believed that the butterfly was a symbol for rebirth and transformation. There was also a belief that if a butterfly was accidentally eaten or swallowed they would impregnate a women and be born as a person.
