College Admissions Guide to Not Panicking

Everyone worries about college admissions and everyone has their own thoughts and ideas on how best to do this. Many students believe that the SATS results are the most important. However, the admission factors most often taken into account appear to be your high school record.

And, while this is true, college admissions look at many factors before making a decision and about 35 to 50% of that decision is influenced by your high school records.

This often gives a college an indication of how well you perform when given a rigorous workload. College admissions will not only look at your overall grades, but also whether you chose difficult classes, whether your grades improved during high school and even whether you let your senior year grades slide.

But around 25 to 40% of their admissions decision is based on how well you did in tests. Both the ACT and SAT test are used to judge applicants because they demonstrate skills like problem solving, reading and other basic skills.

This is one reason why SAT test preparation is vital if you want to do well and improve your SAT test score. They will check out your activities and other accomplishments.

Colleges feel that if you were active in community services or took a leadership position in an activity, then it is likely you will continue to be active at college. College admissions also base anywhere from 5 to 20% of their decision on essays and recommendations.

College admissions may also look at essays and recommendations to learn things that SATS tests are not able to tell them. They want to know what is important to you and discover your greatest strengths and weaknesses.

Taking SAT preparation classes and a few practice SATs tests improves your chance of getting a higher grade and that along with taking AP (advanced placement) courses shows the college admissions what you are capable of and that you are serious about furthering your education. This is essential if you already have a particular school in mind, as the grades and whole high school time period are under scrutiny.

Enhance Your Home - Here Are Some Tips You Need To Know

If your house is on the market or if you have guests over frequently you may want to keep your home fresh and lively. This can be done simply by rotating some of the accessories and changing the bedding and pillows. Or it can be more involved by completely rearranging the furnishings every once in awhile and maybe even changing out the color schemes in some or all rooms.

More then one way exists to spruce up the personality of your home. Here are some ideas to keep in mind.

Bedroom(s): Changing out the bedroom linens is the most impactful change you can make. By keeping your color scheme on the walls and your accessories neutral, it helps the keep the bed itself a blank canvas to work with. If you happen to have a lot of accessories in the bedroom, try to break them into sets and put some away for a while - then pull them out in a few months and do a switch-a-roo! You’ll feel like you have a new room every time!

Kitchen: Making the kitchen a little livelier can be as simple as changing out the hand towels, the table settings, and the accessories. Or it can be more involved such as by adding a back splash in the solid tile and changing your counter tops.

Living Room: Most living rooms are filled with many knick-knacks and items that we hold dear. This is definitely and area that can use some simplification! Try to rotate out your accessories and create areas of focal points. Changing out an area rug and throw pillows on the couch can make a big impact on changing out the look and feel of the room as well. And quite often, it’s important to assess whether the arrangement of the furniture suits the room in the best way possible. It makes sense to move the furniture around to better accommodate the current functions and daily activities of the room.

Gas costs are less with a cycle too many times compared to a car. There are some persons that like to use the cycles to get around town too on their daily treks to work. You have the models of the off-road ones to choose if you like riding on dirt. If you decide that motocross is your things than you have the motocross cycles specially designed for the sport. Cruiser, touring and sport are some other models available to you. You have to examine what the use of them is going to be and decide which type is best suited to you.

Some states may have their laws on how you should outfit yourself for protection purposes. In these laws they usually include helmets. A wide array of riding outfits await your decision. One word of caution here do not think you can ignore your engine of your bike and that it will work right. The cables and connections of the battery need to be checked often and also make sure the battery does not develop leaks. Oil is extremely important with the cycle’s engine so make sure to change and check often. On cycles the tires can rally take a beating along with the wheels so watch for it. Teach yourself what other areas of your bike need extra attention. The better you take good care of your bike the longer it will last.

Motorcycles have sure come a long way since they were first invented. In 1867 a steam-engine version was made. A gas powered one came along in 1885 and was actually made from wood and had an engine on it. Today’s sleek, shiny designs would certainly be envied by the makers of the early models.

Moody Church Pastor Lutzer Contradicts D. L. Moody

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Self Improvement · Comment
by Daniel LaLond Jr.

Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, the esteemed pastor of Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, dilutes foundational passages of warning though masses of Moody supporters do not know it. Dr. Lutzer does so by promising the pearly gates to the apostate and in this plainly contradicts the founder of his own movement, D. L. Moody, on Christian basics.

Christians worldwide who otherwise extol much of Erwin W. Lutzer’s instruction are not aware that their dear pastor and teacher (and his publisher Moody Press) has drifted far from the founding principles of D. L. Moody in general and of the Christian faith in particular. When these dear believers support Erwin Lutzer and Moody Press they believe that they are in step with historic Christianity as well as with the Moody name, is, however, such an assumption valid? To illustrate kindly read Galatians 5:19-21:

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal 5:19-21).

Such a text seems blatantly obvious without commentary, but I must ask: What do you think this warning to those practicing immorality and drunkenness means? That is, what does Paul intend by the phrase “shall not inherit?” “For if ye live after the flesh,” says Paul in a similar text, “ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” In keeping with thousands of years of Christian history, the apostle is clearly warning sinners about not entering the kingdom of God.

Commenting on these seemingly unmistakable passages Dr. Lutzer, the learned teacher of hundreds of thousands insists, “Paul speaks of those who will forfeit certain kingdom privileges because of their sinful lifestyles….Those who practice such sins will not be barred from entering the kingdom, but will be barred from inheriting it” ( Lutzer, Your Eternal Reward, p. 70). As shocking as such might be, Erwin W. Lutzer promises paradise to those who practice and are even characterized by immorality, impurity, idolatry, sorcery or drunkenness!

“If one or more of these sins characterizes their Christian lives, and they refuse to judge the evil, they will forfeit the honor of kingdom rule” (Lutzer, Your Eternal Reward, p. 70).

Refuses to judge the evil? Characterizes? To characterize, says Webster, is to be the distinctive character trait, or the distinguishing feature. Friend, may drunkenness be the distinguishing feature of a Christian inevitably bound for paradise? May the drunkard staggering from the local bar night after night be a Christian destined for an eternity in the holy kingdom of God? Dwight L. Moody, the man under whose name Dr. Lutzer’s egregious notions are propagated, did not think so! Consider:

I pity any professed Christians who rent their property for drinking saloons; If you ever expect to inherit the kingdom of God, give it up. This idea that all is going well, and that all are going into the kingdom of God, whether they repent or not, is not taught anywhere in the Scripture (D. L. Moody, Sermon: Heaven, Its Inhabitants).

D. L. Moody believed and taught, along with Paul and historic Christianity, that if we do not inherit the kingdom that we certainly do not enter it. Not only has Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer’s strange interpretation of Paul’s warning to the Galatians comforted the unrepentant, it has abandoned the views of the D. L. Moody on the basics. Erwin Lutzer plainly contradicts D. L. Moody on this foundational point of the Christian faith. Erwin W. Lutzer never responded to obvious contractions between the doctrine of himself and D. L. Moody though it was addressed in our correspondence.

Family Fun Time - Nature Walk

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Home and Family · Comment
by Dr. Noel Swanson

It seems sometimes that we can’t see the forest for the trees. Not because we aren’t looking, but because of deforestation. While the debate on environmental issues and global warming continues, you can enjoy family fun time by going on a nature walk.

The first thing is to choose clothes that are appropriate. Comfortable shoes, sneakers or hiking boots would be fine, as would light clothing in layers (depending upon the weather), and a slicker to carry just in case of rain. Bring binoculars as well because you never can tell what wonderful sights may await you and your family.

Much has been advertised and written about the importance of preserving nature and all living things. In fact, Jane Goodall has sponsored a program for children that allows them to create backyard habitats for all sorts of birds and other animals that need a place to visit or call home.

Teaching our children about nature and animals who inhabit our planet is not only a necessary exercise, but one from which children can learn all about specific habitats, the creatures who live in them, and the need to preserve them for their generation as well as the generation to come.

While most kids can learn about nature from textbooks, it is walking among the different trees and flowers, discovering different species of birds and insects that makes it real for them and easier to relate to and understand.

Whether you are taking your family to the zoo, or to a reserve where extinct birds can be found, now is the time to do it. Our earth’s natural resources are dissipating as the population continues to grow. While there are still parks which preserve the beauty of our land and its wildlife, no one knows how much longer conservation will continue.

Begin with a family nature walk, a fun time yet a time of learning and appreciating nature and the magnificent treasures it holds.

5 Easy Steps To Get Your Girl Back Home

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Relationships · Comment
by Nancy Pitot

Most men don’t like change and when a breakup occurs they are seeking a fast solution to their relationship or marriage problems. Finding a book titled Get Your Girl Back would be high on their list.

After searching the web, here’s a list of some general activities to start the process.

Why the sudden change? Is it really sudden or has it been building over time? Has either of you experienced a life changing event recently? Is money at the heart of the problems?

How about yourself? Take a step back and examine and see if there is some event in your life that has caused changes which she has trouble accepting?

Sometimes complex interpersonal relationships require the advice and help of a trained outside observer. Contact your pastor or other professional for help in arranging a meeting with all parties involved. Sometimes just one or two sessions is all that is required to determine and resolve the underlying problems.

All good things come to an end, and at some point you need to start looking for a new partner. Try to find someone outside of your mutual friends. Make it a point to stay in touch and occasionally meet your ex for coffee or lunch at one of your favorite old hang outs.

When the time is right, invite her out for an activity? Wait until her favorite play, concert or sports activity is in town, and then call her up with a special invite.

Remember you are not alone. This is a fairly common problem in the evolution of a long term relationship. We have added a couple of free videos to our Magic Of Making Up site, which can help you understand the issues and get your girlfriend or wife back.

Alternative to Gas for your car?

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Automotive · Comment
by Williams Tan

I know you’ve noticed it the oil price hike is breaking every car and vehicle owner’s back and makes it almost impossible to save on fuel.

What’s worse is that commuting is not an effortless act either. And let’s admit it, having a car makes us feel great and accepted within the society.

Its just logical that several alternative fuel vehicles and other methods to save on fuel are devised to reduce the impact of constant oil price hike. BUT the bad news is most of these methods are NOT for everybody and none have been proven to be as effective as they claim.

And don’t even think about using gasoline. That’s a surefire way of getting you and your car caught because of harmful discharges and smoke belching.

Methanol, propane, ethanol - these are just some of the safer options to replace gasoline BUT the fact remains that none of these substitutes prove to 100% resolve the annoying issues behind commonly used fuel.

BUT here’s some great news - using water for fuel is a surefire way of eliminating the health and environmental risks of fuel along with the price hike problems that come along with it.

Come to think of it - you’re hitting the proverbial two birds (health and financial risks) with one stone by using water for fuel. What could be better than that?

I could go all day telling what advantages of water-for-fuel are. BUT to whet your appetite, here are seven of the outstanding benefits of water-for-fuel you won’t have should you use other alternative fuels:

Fuel Saver kit Advantage

1. Get more out of your gas by increasing its mileage by up toor even more than 35% regardless of whatever driving conditions you’re at! That means a whopping $900 savings annually AT LEAST.

2. Get to your destination smoothly and soundly by using water as your car’s fuel.

3. See your engine’s performance and power greatly enhanced.

4. Did I mention water is 100% safe and effective as fuel alternative? Drop your worries about filling the environment with harmful smoke.

5. Keep your engine and its temperature cool so you don’t have to be concerned about adding more heat to our already-feverish environment.

6. Get rid of the carbon building up within your car’s engine and put a stop to it PERMANENTLY.

7. You can expect your rings, pistons, and other parts of your car’s engine to work flawlessly and longer.

Get this - using water is a popular way of producing power for the longest time and the same principle applies when using water for fuel.

Wait! Don’t stock drums and tons of water. You won’t need those. With as little as a quarter of water plus your car’s engine, your vehicle will be powered with HHO or Brown’s Gas that has been famous for being 300% better than fuel.

Engine boosting and money saving properties without harming the natural world - what could be better than that?!

Scar-Free Skin Healing With Aromatherapy

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Health and Fitness · Comment
by Peggy Thorton

Pure essential oils have a long history of use in natural skin care. These wonderful phytochemicals provide a great breadth of natural, medicinal components well-known for healing damaged skin, as well as reducing the appearance of old scars from wounds, acne and other incidents. Essential oil blends for these applications are gentle, safe for regular use, and have a wonderful aroma to boot!

There are a few primary essential oils used in skin care which offer their regenerative properties; these oils can be used in low concentrations, and are generally well-tolerated - certainly more so than many synthetic ingredients. The most important of these may be Helichrysum italicum, also known as Everlasting oil. This wonderful oil is distilled from the daisy-like flowers of the herb. It has a lovely earthy aroma and, despite it’s apparent expense, works in very low concentrations (only a few drops per tablespoon of your total blend). Helichrysum is strongly anti-inflammatory and contains powerful regenerative molecules unique to this oil only.

Helichrysum essential oil is the cornerstone for many blends for healing the skin, and is the only one necessary for supporting currently healing skin damage - it should be used at appropriate concentrations with Rosehip Seed and Hazelnut oils, as mentioned later in this article. As noted by well-known aromatherapists Kurt Schnaubelt, “The triple unsaturated fatty acids (of Rosehip Seed oil) strengthen the cell membranes and, combined with the regnerative qualities of Everlasting oil (Helichrysum), heal wounds with minimal or no scarring”.

As mentioned above, Lavender is often included in skin care blends - it has gentle anti-inflammatory and tissue regenerative properties, along with very soothing, anti-anxiety aroma. Lavender essential oil itself began the modern aromatherapy revolution when a scientist burned his hand in a laboratory accident, and after cooling the wound in a beaker of Lavender found the wound to heal remarkably quickly. It is also thought to ’synergize’ or improve the efficacy of other essential oils in combination.

Next up is the essential oil distilled from the leaves of common Sage, or Salvia officinalis. Sage is used in low concentrations in very specific conditions - where the scars are old and require a little extra phytochemical power to heal. Sage oil can bring circulation to the area, and can assist the scarred area of the skin to regenerate, particularly in concert with other oils. Sage can be used in stretch mark formulas, but should only be employed post-partum because of the high thujone content of the oil.

Rosemary will be the final essential oil we’ll mention here for scar treatment. For the skin, Rosemary of the Verbenone chemotype has many important properties - it contains regenerative ketone molecules, and stimulates cellular metabolism. This oil helps new skin form, bringing nutrients into the cells and supports the removing toxins and wastes.

The essential oils mentioned here must be diluted in a carrier oil for daily application. In aromatherapy, more is not better! There have been numerous studies showing the great efficacy of essential oils in low concentrations based in seed or nut carrier oils. The two most commonly used base oils for skin care are Rosehip seed and Hazelnut oils. Rosehip seed has many documented uses in skin care, with it’s triple-unsaturated fatty acids and it’s vitamin A compounds. Rosehip seed has the ability to support tissue regeneration like Retin A, but without the drying or redening side effects. Hazelnut oil is the most well tolerated of all the carrier oils, and with its mild astringent properties, can even be used in cases of very oily skin. It will tend to leave the skin feeling nourished without feeling greasy.

And now for a few recipes - a few simple mixtures can cover several skin-healing conditions, both for recent wounds and older scarred tissue. For the support of recent wounds, use one ounce Hazelnut and one ounce Rosehip seed oils. To this, add 25 drops each of Helichrysum and Lavender essential oils - apply twice a day once the wound can get moist. For the improvement of appearance of old scars, keloid scars and acne scars, try the same base oils, replacing the Lavender with Sage essential oil. Apply regularly for 3 to 6 months for best results. For the post-partum reduction of stretch marks, again to the same base oil formula, add 25 drops Sage essential oil and 25 drops Rosemary verbenone. Use this formula again for several months for best results.

So there is a few effective combinations of natural botanical ingredients that can support certain skin care conditions. Many, many more skin care formulas are available when blending essential oils - with many oils able to aid with very particular situations. If needed, a little research should go a long way in helping you find what you need. And as always with aromatherapy oils, go slowly, pay attention to your body’s reactions and remember that increasing concentrations of the essential oils will not make a more effective blend. Be safe and enjoy.

On Demand CRM : Is It Suitable For You?

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Computers and Technology · Comment
by Ray Lam

In today’s CRM market, a variety of on-demand CRM solutions are available, some extremely popular. Companies are attracted to on-demand CRM by convenience and price. On-demand CRM systems can be quick to set up and are unlikely to need much, if any, investment in new hardware. The monthly contract costs can also seem very appealing.

Though many businesses have taken up on-demand CRM however, many are also moving away from it. On-demand CRM solutions may seem a good fit to start with, but businesses can soon outgrow them, find they are limited in what they are capable of, or that the business needs a more comprehensive CRM solution.

On-demand CRM solutions have their place in the CRM market. However, the benefits they seem to offer at first glance need careful investigation. While on-demand CRM solutions may be faster to get up and running than on-site CRM software, they can often cost more in the long term. In some companies, their investment in on-demand CRM solutions has added up to a higher total cost of ownership - especially when users get tied into contracts.

On-demand solutions frequently have limited functionality, and are notoriously difficult (which usually means expensive!) to integrate with other applications. So, although on-demand CRM solutions may seem cheap to start with, the price may not always turn out to be as attractive as it first appeared. Paul Petersen, Senior Director of the GoldMine Business Unit for FrontRange Solutions, recently stated “We talk with many companies that learn too late of the limitations of on-demand CRM”. He goes on to say “On the surface, on-demand CRM is compelling and seems to offer incredible benefits. Yet, an increasing number of organizations that tried on-demand applications have returned to an on-premise solution, and we want customers and partners to be as informed as possible about the options for cost-effective and mission-critical CRM.”

Discovering a suitable CRM software provider is not so difficult. Searching on Internet is the best option. Before going for any open source CRM solution, know your company needs and frame work. When hiring a hosted CRM provider, things to be noted are the data integration capacity of the provider and the security they provide to your tracked and imputed information. Deal only with a hosted CRM provider who uses special data encryption techniques for securing of your data. For both software systems, most CRM providers offer 30 day free trials, make use of these offers to find one suitable for you.
