Information On Finding A Pug Rescue

October 21, 2008 · Filed Under Pets · Comment
by Jenny Donaldson

Sometimes just a little time out of your day can make all the difference in the world to a pet that has been abandoned or abused. If you know of a Pug in an abusive situation like that then you need to do the humane thing and contact a local Pug rescue organization to come get the animal the help it needs.

No pet deserves to be abused or abandoned and if you know of a Pug in that situation then it is absolutely up to you to do what you can to help that dog.

The first place you can start to find Pug rescue information is a vet. If you have pets then contact your vet and see if they know of any Pug rescue organizations in your area that you can contact. If you do not have a vet then any vet out of the phone book will be able to assist you. If they have the information they will be glad to pass it on to you.

Your local newspaper has been a collection area for important local contact information for many years and they may be able to help you find the local Pug rescue groups in your area. In some cases the local paper even publishes this contact information on a semi-regular basis but even if they do not make the information public that does not mean they do not have it. Call your local newspaper and ask them about Pug rescue contact information.

Local law enforcement usually keeps information for local animal rescue groups on file and they may be able to supply you with the contact information you need to get in touch with the local Pug rescue groups. Again it is one of those resources many people overlook but it can prove to be very valuable if you just take the time to make the call and ask the question.

The Internet connects all people in all places and you can use the Internet to find local organizations as well as national and international ones. Sometimes the local Pug rescue group will have a website that lists all of their contact information and you can use that to get the abused or abandoned dog help.

If there are no local groups then find a national Pug rescue group and ask them if they have any satellite offices that are close to you that you can contact for assistance. The key to all of this is that you never know until you take the time to look.

There is no greater shame than an abused or abandoned pet. If you come across a Pug, or any other abused pet, then it is up to you to do the humane thing and get the pet some help. It only takes a moment and if you know how to use the resources at your disposal then it can take even less time but the small amount of time you take to get that pet assistance can mean a lifetime worth of difference.

by Jan Ryan

There are some distinct variations between the Black German Shepherd and the standard German Shepherd. The Black German Shepherd has retained its more traditional look of the breed. The Black German Shepherd is larger than the regular German Shepherd and has a much straighter back. It also does not “cringe”, an appearance common to regular German Shepherds. The coat has many variations and can be long or short with a flowing mane, feathering and skirting.

The Black German Shepherd has kept the more traditional look of a German Shepherd through the years and he is larger then the regular German Shepherd. His coat can be short or long and flowing and his mane may be feathered or have skirting. His back is also straighter and he does not “cringe”. Cringing is a typical characteristic of the regular German Shepherd. The only ailments you should be concerned about with the Black German Shepherd are hip and elbow dysplasia. With proper preventative care, this problem can be overcome.

A Black German Shepherd is a great dog in which to make an investment. These dogs run between eight hundred and one thousand dollars, but are well worth the investment. The darker the coat color and the more luxurious it is, the more expensive the dog will be. Black German Shepherds are the most popular dog in Australia and the Australians don’t think twice before buying one of these dogs. The Black German Shepherd should be easy to find by checking the Internet for reputable breeders. They are plentiful and their litters run up to ten pups each.

Maintaining a healthy Black German Shepherd is fairly easy. He will need plenty of exercise every day, so walking twice a day or having a large fenced in area is recommended. There is more chance of health problems if a Black German Shepherd is confined to a small area. Hip and elbow dysplasia is a common concern with these dogs, but with proper preventative measures the problem can be easily dealt with.

The Black German Shepherd dog is a highly intelligent dog and should be trained accordingly. These dogs want to be trained because they want to please their owners. Because of their stable and good temperament

The Black German Shepherd is a very good disability dog. They are known to most as the seeing eye dogs. They work with customs officials and correctional officers. They are great obedience dogs and work instinctively well with the police. They make great companion dogs and so naturally they make awesome family pets. They are very loyal dogs and will be protective to their families. This characteristic makes them great watchdogs as well.

They can be trained to do almost anything. Their German roots, which are steeped rich in history, have set them back in history as working dogs. Herding animals for the farmers and rounding up strays from the herd. They have instinctively held onto this concept through the years.

What can’t this dog do? He is characteristically one of the best dogs on the planet and should be listed as number on the breed list as man’s best friend.

American Rottweilers Make Excellent Therapy Dogs

The American Rottweiler is a black dog with tan markings behind his eyes, cheeks, chest and muzzle. It has a medium length coat that is straight and coarse and has a double undercoat. These dogs are very possessive with their owners and their possessions and will make wonderful guard dogs. Their history goes back hundreds of years when they marched with the Romans over the Alps pulling their carts.

The American Rottweiler is taller and thinner through the face and body. Both the American Rottweiler and the German Rottweiler are black with distinct tan markings over both eyes, cheeks, muzzle and chest. Both have coats that are medium length, coarse and straight and both have a double undercoat.

The only difference between the American Rottweiler and the German Rottweiler is their size. The American Rottweiler is taller and thinner in the face and body while the German Rottweiler is shorter, stockier and more muscular.

American Rottweilers are very intelligent dogs and will take over the home if not trained properly. The cute little cuddly puppies grow into giant animals that need to know who the boss really is. These dogs can be stubborn but will learn very quickly from obedience training and should be trained at a very early age. If the American Rottweiler is not trained and socialized early he can become a bully, which will create further behavior problems. These dogs excel in sports such as flyball, carting, herding and agility.

If obedience training does not occur at an early age the American Rottweiler can become a bully and will have other undesirable behavioral problems. These dogs excel in sports such as herding, carting, flyball and agility. The American Rottweiler is a relatively healthy dog breed. He tends towards hip dysplasia, as do other large dog breeds and he in the last few decades has a tendency toward cancer. If any moles or lumps should suddenly appear on his body it is imperative that you take him to the vet and have it checked out thoroughly.

Finding a reputable American Rottweiler breeder should not be difficult. Many are on the Internet, many veterinarians will be able to steer you to a good breeder and the American Kennel Club will always be able to give you information on a reputable American Rottweiler breeder. The breeder will answer all of your questions and most likely will ask you the questions to make sure that you are ready for a Rottweiler.

There are breeders who sell American Rottweilers and breeders who sell German Rottweilers. Doing your own research before you go Rottweiler shopping is a very good idea in order to find the dog you desire. If you do not research the breed before you shop there is about a ninety percent chance that you will be unhappy with your dog.

These dogs must have obedience training in their early lives in order to provide productive behavior throughout its life. These dogs are gentle giants who have no idea of their size and have a marvelous sense of humor. Paired with the right human and the mix can be quite fun.

Golden Retriever: A Nineteenth Century Dog

by Carol Matthews

The Golden Retriever, one of the most popular intelligent dogs around the world, is known for its service in a wide variety of areas including field trials, obedience, hunting and offering companionship and guidance to blind people. During early days of the 1800’s, hunting was considered both a practical measure for obtaining food as well as an interesting domain of sports in England and Scotland. The Golden Retriever was developed from the need to have a medium-sized dog that has the flexibility to move through wild fowling, both upland gaming zone and waterfowl.

In 19th century, Lord Tweedmouth at Guisachan estate, Scotland, kept the records of the development of the Golden Retriever for the first time. These records were published for the first time by Tweedmouth’s great nephew in the year 1952. It was during the mid of 19th century when Lord Tweedmouth purchased his the Golden Retriever Nous. In his estate, he put the effort to breed the dogs with desired characteristics.

During that time, Tweed Water Spaniel dogs were used for the purpose of hunting and they were recognized for their true intelligence, boldness and vitality. While developing the breed of the Golden Retriever, Tweed Water Spaniel dogs played a significant role. Breeding between Nous and Belle, a female Tweed Water Spaniel dog, gave birth the first fours desired golden puppies. However in time, dogs like Bloodhound, Irish setter along with Tweed Water Spaniel were integrated in order to breed the Golden Retrievers of today.

At the end of 19th century in England, the popularity of the Golden Retriever increased significantly. In the year 1908, the first exhibition of Golden Retrieve was held in the Crystal Palace show, England. A separate status had been established with the formation of the Golden Retriever Club in the year 1913 in England. In 1920, these dogs put their footsteps in North America for the first time in the line of dog-breeding history.

In 1925, the Golden Retriever achieved the recognition from American Kennel Club (AKC). The popularity of the Golden Retriever increased sharply during the years of the 1930’s and 1940’s. With its true obedience, this breed obtained the award of Obedience Champ Title from American Kennel Club (AKC) in the year 1977.

During the early days of development, the versatility of the Golden Retriever was still unrecognized and this breed was only treated as a hunting dog. However later on all knew the versatile characteristics of this breed.

In the earlier times, buyers mostly prefer dark colored coat of the Golden Retriever to the light shade coat, but gradually the light golden shade became preferred by most people. Starting from its initial days of breeding, even today the popularity of the Golden Retriever has never faded away.

ollowing the years of first breeding, the popularity of this breed has never failed and today this dog has obtained the utmost popularity as a truly intelligent, obedient and courageous dog throughout the world.

Keeping Your Best Friend In Prime Condition With Healthy Dog Food

October 1, 2008 · Filed Under Pets · Comment
by Jolie Mitchel

You hear all sorts of advice on how to provide healthy dog food for your pet - from pet food manufacturers, your veterinarian, friends and family - but what’s the real story on giving your dog a diet to keep him in top form? We’ll look at a few basic recommendations and some options for snazzy home cooking for your dog.

First, if you purchase commercial dog food, you should keep some basic guidelines in mind. A ratio of 40% meat, 50% vegetables and 10% grain is ideal. Check the packaging label closely to ensure a similar ratio when purchasing commercial food. While you’re checking the label make sure that a meat protein is listed first on the label - usually chicken, beef or lamb. Keep in mind that buying cheap commercial dog food often results in cheap ingredients. Pay a little more for higher quality and your dog will thank you!

Many pet owners, concerned over the types of preservatives used in some dog food are resolving the issue by cooking their own pet food. Preservatives such as BHA, BHT, and oxyquin are believed to be toxic an large amounts. The problem is, how much is large and is the effect these preservatives may have on your best friend cumulative over time?

There are many sources for dog food recipes. Your vet may have some and the Internet certainly is a good source. Of course there are good recipes and some not so good. Follow the 50-40-10 ratios found on the packaged foods and you should be all right. Make sure the meat is fully cooked and free of bones. Brown rice and oatmeal are excellent choices for the grain component.

Once you know the basic ratios, you can experiment until you find a combination of ingredients that your dog will love. Remember not to salt the food, and that some ingredients - chocolate, garlic, onions, avocados, grapes, raisins and mushrooms - are actually dangerous for your pet and should never be used. Make certain that your healthy dog food is also safe!

What’s good for humans isn’t necessarily best for dogs. A vegetarian diet is generally considered to be a healthy one but a dog, being a carnivore, is used to meat in it’s diet and is apt to become bored with food containing no meat or a portion significantly less than the 50% ratio.

If you don’t feel up to standing over a hot stove to cook for Fido you might check out your local health food store. Many have organic dog foods in stock. The Internet is also a good source of organic or holistic pet foods.

Your dog’s health is primarily determined by it’s diet so make an effort to insure that diet is a proper one. There are many options ranging from checking labels to ensure a proper mix of good ingredients to preparing your own or looking to your vet or health food store. This extra effort on your part will pay big dividends to both you and your best friend.

What To look for in A Dog Bed Cot

September 20, 2008 · Filed Under Pets · Comment
by Johnathan Livingston

Once upon a time, it was normal to let the family companion simply lay out on the floor or sleep on the carpet. Today, there is much more emphasis in providing comfort for the animals that are dear to your family’s heart. Putting down a piece of carpet simply won’t do it and your animal needs something far more comfortable than a patch of blanket. By purchasing a dog bed cot or other sleeping arrangement, you can increase your animals level of comfort every night. You don’t want your best friend sleeping on the floor, after all.

While we would all certainly love to sit under a tree and relax while the family companion sleeps beside us, this simply is not feasible in the real world and these types of comforts are rare to behold. With the minimal amount of quality time that we get to spend with our companions in the modern day, we can at least provide for them with a decent place to sleep and a physically comfortable resting place.

With all the effort to put forth the best for our companions, the dog bed cots that can be purchased at nearly any store can suit your purposes extremely well. With cozy and comfortable designs that are intended to provide the utmost level of comfort, these accessories have become a necessity for many animal lovers. In the case of those animals who sleep on the floor, you might wish to pick up a dog bed cot to provide them with the most comfortable sleeping surface that you can possibly imagine.

In many cases, it is common to see multiple animals caged up with a concrete pad and a piece of carpet for a sleeping surface. You might wonder why these individuals bother to have animals at all if this is the way they are going to treat them. While it is true that you can’t control the way others treat their companions, you can certainly do the right thing and provide for yours with a far higher level of comfort with a dog bed cot.

With all the different types of dog bed cots on the market today, it is not surprising that there are so many people who have made the effort to ensure that their companion has the best and most comfortable sleeping arrangements that they can possibly afford. With all of these different styles and selections to choose from it isn’t hard to see that they are intended to fit any budget and still give the highest level of comfort for your animal companion.

Considering the effort and emphasis on caring for and maintaining the health of animals and companions in the modern day, it only makes sense that these dog bed cots would be a popular item and see a tremendous level of demand, as more and more people make the effort to provide a modicum of comfort for man’s best friend. While it is true that the animals can sleep anywhere, if you really love your pet you will take the time and effort to provide for them with a comfortable dog bed cot.

If you want to ensure that your pet does not wake up with aching hips and bones, it is advisable to supply them with a comfortable dog bed cot or other sleeping surface. Naturally, you would not want to sleep on a piece of floor with nothing but carpet and to force man’s best friend to sleep there is terribly unacceptable. By employing the comfortable dog bed cot for your pet, you can sleep well at night knowing that they are enjoying a deep and comfortable sleep and will be well rested in the morning.

In the interest of your animal companion, you should take the time and effort to provide the most comfortable sleeping arrangements that you can manage. In most cases, this would include the dog bed cots that are so popular and see so much business at the local pet store. Once they have become accustomed to the extraordinarily comfortable sleeping arrangements, they will become increasingly well rested and happy, ready to lavish you with love and affection.

Orthopedic Dog Beds for your pet

September 18, 2008 · Filed Under Pets · Comment
by Johnathan Livingston

Some people do not care about their pets as others feel they should. There are others who may seem to care about their pets too much. Many people will go to extravagant lengths to make sure that their pet is comfortable. Some people will buy orthopedic dog beds for their pets, while others will buy only the best on collars, carriers, and toys.

There are others who simply want to purchase the few things they need to purchase to make sure that their dog has what they need to enjoy life. Some of these things include orthopedic dog beds, collars, carriers, and toys. These specific items may be needed by many dogs to make sure that they are happy.

What are Orthopedic Dog Beds?

Orthopedic dog beds are easily one of the newest things to hit the dog bed scene. Orthopedic dog beds aim to help those dogs that have joint problems. These beds are made of a foam that helps to ease the joint pain and suffering for those dogs who are older or are suffering.

The orthopedic dog beds are made from a type of foam that is incredibly soft. This helps those dogs that are suffering from major joint issues. For some, the idea of an orthopedic dog bed is simply too much; when you think about how simple the bed is, however, this is a moot point. The bed is simply made out of special foam, and does not cost too much to create, or to purchase. This helps to make your dog as comfortable as possible when resting and sleeping.

Collars Are Important

When people think of dog collars, they tend to think of fun. Many people like to have as much fun as possible with the dog collar. Some people pick a dog color because they like the color or pattern of the color, while others simply pick a cheap dog collar due to price.

What people fail to realize, however, is the fact that the color can be agitating and sometimes painful for the dog that is wearing it. Choosing a dog collar based on how it will feel for your dog can help to make your dog comfortable whenever it has on a collar.

Carriers can be Uncomfortable

When people think of carriers, they think of strength. They think of transporting their dog in something that is sturdy. They often fail to think of the dog when looking at the carrier. Making sure that the carrier has enough room, both length wise and width wise, is incredibly important to making sure that your pet is comfortable. Having a carrier that your dog can move around in is key, as it needs the space to feel comfortable.

Toys can Help

Dog toys are products that are always simple to make, and simple to re buy. Dog toys usually resemble a large piece of rope or a large bone. While these dog toys are normal and usual, and may be great for some dogs, there are other options out there.

Many people do not understand that there are toys out there, on the market, that can actually help your dog. Some of these toys aim to help the teeth of the dog, while others attempt to strengthen them. Choosing toys that are safe and helpful to your dog will help you to make your dog as comfortable and happy as possible.

When people think of orthopedic dog beds, they can easily become confused. Many people do not think of anything orthopedic when it comes to their pets. When people think of collars, carriers, and toys, they do not think of the best; they simply think of what they can buy. It is important to make sure that you are getting all of the best materials and products for your dog. Taking care of your dog is important, and making sure you have the best products is crucial to be able to do so.

Pomeranian Breeding

by Rosie Allan

It’s hard to resist that cute little bundle of fluff that is known as the Pomeranian puppy, but before you rush out and adopt the first fur ball that you see, you will want to arm yourself with some information about Pomeranian breeding. This will help to ensure that you end up with a dog that is healthy, well bred and a good family pet for your household.

The first step in your search for a responsible Pomeranian breeder should be to find a person that sells his dogs directly. No matter what your neighborhood pet shop will tell you, responsible breeders will not go through a third party to market their animals. This is because a breeder who really cares about his Pomeranians will want to know that his precious puppies are going to owners who can provide a good home and the best care. Don’t be surprised if your breeder has as many questions for you as you have for him. This is simply part of responsible Pomeranian breeding.

Reputable Pomeranian breeders will only sell their puppies themselves, so that they can see that their precious puppies are going to good homes where they will receive the best care. These are the Pomeranian breeders that you will want to look for, but there is other criteria you can refer to that will help you choose the best breeder for you.

Once you have determined that you need to go to the source of Pomeranian breeding to find the best dog for your family, there is some other criteria that you can refer to that will help you choose the best breeder for you. First, a responsible breeder will be very willing to let you see the area in which the dogs live, because the environment will be clean and well maintained. He will also give you time to visit with the mother or father of the litter when possible, because this will help to give you an idea of what your puppy might look and act like when he is full grown.

A person who practices responsible Pomeranian breeding will have plenty of questions to ask you about the type of home and care you will be able to provide for your new puppy. He will provide you with documentation of your dog’s line, veterinarian records and registration information. He will most likely want you to sign a contract stating that if you cannot keep your dog, you will return it to him immediately. Good breeders will always take back a dog that can no longer be cared for.

Finding someone who practices responsible Pomeranian breeding is the first step in becoming a responsible dog owner yourself. By taking the time to research the breeders in your area and visiting the ones on your list, you will be much more likely to find a puppy that is healthy, happy and well cared for.

If you are unsure of where to start to look for breeders, your veterinarian, local breed club or the American Kennel Club may have some names to help get you started. There is also plenty of information on the Internet about where to find responsible Pomeranian breeders.

Not all breeders are created equal, but you can use some basic criteria to find a responsible breeder that will provide you with a healthy family pet. Don’t settle when it comes to your furry family companion, so check out the breeders in your area before making your purchase. Many happy years with your Pomeranian will prove that the time and effort you put forth at the beginning was well worth it.
