The KDL46hx800 is crossbreed between 2D and a 3D TV, in simple terms it is regular television with a option to upgrade to 3D. Televisions like these allow regular folks like us to be able to enjoy 3D movies without cashing out on a full blown 3D-TV set. The only catch with the 3D capability is that is not enabled by itself, you would need to get the 3D emitter and 3D glasses to be able to setup the 3D feature. Not to be worried you can get the emitter and the glasses for less than a hundred dollars. If you just starting out with the 3D world, please be aware the 3D DVDs require a blue ray player or you can use Playstation 3 for the same purpose.
